New Review

"Agavero is an ultra-premium spirit that is created from a blend of 100% blue agave añejo and reposado tequilas hand blended with the essence of Damiana flower for unparalleled smoothness and taste." (Quote from the Agavero web site)
I've tried this a couple of different times and it's just a bit too sweet for me. The Damiana flower gives this tequila a unique flavor which hides or masks that great 100% agave flavor that I prefer. At 64 proof its a bit of a lightweight as well.
The women will love it the guys will look elsewhere for their tequila fix!

1800 Silver - 100% Blue Agave- My absolute favorite tequila! I buy this regularly. Very smooth, great agave flavor and a crisp clean aftertaste. If you like your tequila straight up this should be your first choice.

Cabo Wabo Blanco - 100% Blue Agave- I received a bottle of this from my son for Christmas. Smooth taste, mixes well and has a pleasing aftertaste. I liked this tequila alot. If it were a bit more affordable I'd drink it more often.

LaCofradia Blanco - 100% Blue Agave - I had some friends purchase this for me when they were vacationing in Cancun. This tequila was a pleasant surprise to all of us. It is quite possibly the smoothest tequila ever taste tested by yours truly! A real pleasure to drink. Highly Recommend!

Don Julio Silver - 100% Blue Agave - I purchased a bottle of this on our vacation last year in North Carolina. A smooth, distinctive agave flavor with a slight "peppery" aftertaste. I enjoyed this tequila. Recommended

Tequila Reviews

All of the tequilas listed here have been sampled and tasted by me on numerous occasions. For the most part, I've purchased at least one bottle (750ml) of each of these brands for my own personal consumption.
The reviews are my opinions of the product based on taste, smoothness and price. Like all things, opinions are subjective. Just because I didn't care for a particular brand of tequila doesn't mean that you shouldn't give it a try

Aha Toro Blanco - 100% Blue Agave - I had some friends purchase this for me when they were visiting in Cancun. Although it displays very nicely in this unique bottle style, the tequila itself is a bit on the harsh side. That harshness even comes through in mixed drinks and cocktails. Needless to say, this is not one that I recommend unless you like collecting fancy tequila bottles.

Jose Cuervo Black Medallion- "Cuervo Black is an añejo tequila aged in charred oak barrels. The new brand is designed to appeal to Cuervo drinkers as they, and their palates, age and mature. Cuervo Black is aged at least 12 months and the charring process on the barrels is designed to remove impurities and give the tequila a deeper oaky flavor." I'm not a real fan of aged tequilas. I tried a bottle of this and though the price point was good, I didnt really enjoy the strong flavor created by the aging process. The flavor was slightly reminiscent of whisky with a slight tequila taste. If you're a fan of aged tequilas this may be for you.

El Tesoro Platinum - 100% Blue Agave - Bottled within 24 hours of distillation to capture and preserve all of those rich agave flavors. Smooth, clean flavor without much aftertaste. I've purchased this tequila numerous times and highly recommend it.

Jose Cuervo Flavored Tequilas - Following the Mexican government’s recent ruling that flavors can be added to Tequila, New York City-based Jose Cuervo International has launched a new line extension—Cuervo Flavored Tequilas. The three Tequilas are distilled and bottled in Mexico and combine premium silver-styled Tequilas with natural flavoring ingredients. Citrico has tastes of lime, Oranjo contains hints of orange, and Tropina mixes pineapple and other tropical fruits. I've personally had the Citrico and the Tropina flavors of this tequila and both are very tasty either in drinks or on the rocks. In margaritas the Citrico product added a distinctive smoothness to the cocktail. These are quite good for the money.

Jose Cuervo Clasico - Introduced in 2003 Clasico is a silver mixto tequila. It is a perfectly acceptable tequila for mixed drinks and we've used this from time to time at some of our margarita parties. Affordable and readily available.

Patron Silver 100% Blue Agave - After hearing everyone in the tequila world absolutely rave about Patron tequilas, I purchased a bottle. The much anticipated taste testing of this premium tequila was a huge disappointment to say the least.
My wife, daughter and I all tested this at the same time and all of us were of the same opinion, this tequila was harsh, lacking in character and ended with a really strong aftertaste. It was slightly reminiscent of my tequila experiences in high school (The El Toro Days!).
Sorry, but i can't recommend this tequila to anyone.

Sauza Blanco - Bronze Medal winner at the Beverage Testing Institute. This tequila is our first choice for margaritas and cocktails. Its clean and crisp with a fairly smooth flavor. No strong aftertaste.
Recommended.

Milagro Silver - 100% Blue Agave - I tried a bottle of this early on in my tequila tasting journies. A nice, fairly smooth tequila. This doesn't seem to be available in alot of places so availability may be a problem. There was nothing outstanding about this brand, but nothing horrifically bad either. Just a nice, ordinary tequila.

Casa Noble 100% Blue Agave Blanco. I had a relative bring me a bottle of this from California (its not available in Michigan). My first impression is that this tequila is very smooth but very distinct in its agave flavoring. I find its taste slightly peppery (much like Don Julio Blanco) with a great aftertaste and a very nice "afterglow". Highly Recommended !

Cuervo Tradicional 100% Blue Agave- I've consumed a few bottles of this particular Cuervo offering. This is a limited production tequila but supplies seem to be adequate in our area. Cuervo Tradicional has been aged for 6 months in oak barrels but you can hardly discern that from the full bodied agave flavor. A very smooth tequila that works well in mixed drinks and on the rocks.
Highly recommended!
